Leicester City must get creative in the summer regarding transfers. Not creative in the sense of a dodgy accountant, or how they made a mess of their finances to begin with. What is required: actual innovation, modernisation and absolute diligence in the market. Not to mention using the time to remove unwanted, overpaid and useless players off the LCFC wage bill. That element is absolutely compulsory.

The Foxes squad will have a remarkably different complexion next season. Discovering a few discontent professionals to loan in and rejuvenate is requisite. Unearthing some gems as free agents would be ideal.

Yet City supposedly have some cash to spend: £10 million has been frequently mentioned. This figure would be world-changing for League One.

Spending it wisely is paramount. To that end, The72 have made a trio of suggestions for the East Midlands side to consider.

Three possible Leicester City targets

Although these players may not wish to lower themselves in some cases, Leicester need the type of baller that may, in fact, be superior than tier three. First of all, Archie Collins presents an incredibly plausible, astute addition to the middle.

"it has been confirmed he will leave when his deal expires."

Collins will officially hit the market when his departure from Peterborough United is confirmed. The 26-year-old DM perfectly marries rugged defensive diligence with a sophisticated technical capability to dictate tempo from deep. Crucially, as a free agent, his acquisition allows funds to be diverted elsewhere, offering zero financial risk for an elite League One operator.

Furthermore, Bristol City's Sam Bell offers an enticing proposition out wide. The 23-year-old forward spent the winter on loan at Wycombe before returning to Ashton Gate to stage an eye-catching late-season surge.

"he [Bell] could be tempted to drop down a league at the end of his deal."

While the Robins will likely resist a departure, the guarantee of a starring role in a promotion-chasing side makes regressing a tier highly feasible. Bell possesses the direct, multi-functional dynamism that Leicester desperately require.

Finally, the recruitment department should apparently look overseas to Filip Bilbija. The versatile 26-year-old SC Paderborn forward has been a standout force in the 2. Bundesliga, spearheading his side's promotion charge with a heavily productive campaign.

"Again, Bilbija is arguably a player above League One level, but the Foxes have the power to tempt such players. "

Capable of operating across the frontline, as an AM or, most competently, as a shadow striker, Bilbija boasts the precise physical power and clinical edge needed to entirely dismantle third-tier defences. Engaging a player of his calibre requires ambition, yet he represents the exact step the Foxes must pursue. Convincing any of them won't be straight forward anymore.
