Leicester transfer talk: Nestory Irankunda, Mason Burstow, Jayden Wareham

Preseason is generally going swimmingly for Leicester City Football Club, yet the nagging reality remains that The King Power International Group have actually placed the organisation up for sale, rendering nothing foreseeable and shrouding the future in total uncertainty. Even so, as previously noted, everything is functioning pretty well across every area of the club apart from the ongoing instability at the highest level of stewardship.

For instance, the Blue Army appear to be really warming to new manager Russell Martin, whose arrival has brought a fresh sense of cohesion despite the off-field distractions. The former Southampton, Rangers, MK Dons and Swansea City head coach is technically performing wonders with this blended squad; which is a mixture of a few remaining tolerable senior professionals and a host of, fortunately, impressive young talents stepping up to claim their chance.

Just imagine for a brief moment, if you will, how much more difficult this situation would potentially be had King Power not organised and built the wonderful Seagrave Training Ground, a facility that provides a solid foundation even amid flux. Credit where credit is due; while most other aspects of the club's infrastructure have been somewhat neglected over time, this major element stands out as notable and could well prove the saving grace that prevents a difficult season from becoming a crisis ahead.

Martin has really worked the socks off this group in the warm summer sun, happily, and every player looks sharper and more unified for the effort invested so far. This currently makeshift Foxes side has won four friendlies out of four – a fact which is remarkable given the prevailing circumstances, not to mention boding extremely well for the early stages of Martin's tenure in the East Midlands.

New signings are also arriving slowly but surely; only two recruits, Conor Chaplin and Alex McCarthy, have made their way to Leicestershire, yet more have been promised even with the cloud of ownership hanging over the transfer strategy. To that end, three potential acquisitions or loan moves have been connected to City in recent reports and In The Know accounts, with updates emerging from multiple sources.

In one instance, transfer specialist Ekrem Konur linked the East Midlands outfit with Nestory Irankunda, an exciting Australian attacker who plays alongside Harry Souttar. Even though a central attacker is required, Irankunda is a player LCFC are unlikely to sign given the sheer volume of quality suitors circling, including Braga, Sporting CP, West Ham United, Everton and Fiorentina.

The second of the trio is a name that has surfaced through an ITK, Jayden Wareham. A striker who enjoyed a prolific campaign in the second tier with Exeter City last term and has drawn interest from Bristol City; making him a plausible and sensible target.

Lastly, there is another prospect flagged by a well-informed supporter, Mason Burstow. Burstow is a Hull City player who was firing on all cylinders during a temporary League One spell with Bolton Wanderers in the previous season.

Capable of operating out wide as a winger, Burstow is predominantly a centre forward with the physical presence and instinct to lead the line. The 22-year-old offers an interesting profile for a team looking to add attacking depth.
