Leicester City find themselves in a truly peculiar position for a formerly respected professional club. To be a football team of such purported stature existing without a single recognised senior striker is, quite frankly, stranger than fiction. An oddball situation if ever there were one!
This glaring deficiency highlights a growing consensus that the Foxes have become one of, if not the, most poorly managed organisations in modern sport. While clubs like Sheffield Wednesday occasionally rival this ineptitude, the East Midlanders are fast becoming a laughing stock as their Yorkshire counterparts finally appear to be turning a corner.
So, where might City turn in order to rectify this dreadful, self-inflicted situation? The club is supposedly scouting the bargain bin of loans and free transfers, with a mythical £10 million budget allegedly available for new recruits. Though LCFC supporters will surely believe that speculation when they actually see it!
Leicester City eye Lyndon Dykes
One individual who would ostensibly be ideal to lead the line at King Power Stadium is the current Charlton Athletic frontman, Lyndon Dykes. The 30-year-old is a robust presence who causes significant tactical headaches for opponents across every quadrant of the pitch.

Understand Millwall and Leicester have also made approaches to sign him as a free agent.

Although perhaps not a prolific goalscorer by traditional metrics, his unique physical profile would likely allow him to flourish against League One defences. A stalwart for the Scotland national team, Dykes is currently preparing for the upcoming World Cup, an international showcase that invariably inflates a player's market value.
This impending global spotlight, coupled with firm interest from EFL Championship side Millwall, threatens to derail any prospective move Leicester might attempt. Furthermore, Charlton Athletic reportedly remain desperate to retain his services.
It must also be conceded that the Leicestershire side simply does not possess the alluring prestige it once held. Nevertheless hope, arguably wishful, remains for this calibre or higher.
