Leicester will desperately want to avoid playing this star in League One

Leicester City will hope they can achieve Championship survival, just so they don't have to cross paths with this stubborn star again.

Leicester City fans would have been hopeful that their team could come away from Hillsborough with a confidence-boosting three points in tow on Easter Monday.

Unfortunately, though, even Sheffield Wednesday proved to be somewhat of a stern test for the relegation-threatened Foxes, despite the crisis-ridden Owls only winning one Championship game all season long.

Jerry Yates would silence the travelling Leicester masses when he scrambled home the hosts' opener, after only two minutes had been played, leaving Rowett and Co. searching for an immediate equaliser, to spare their blushes.

No such immediate equaliser would come, as it would take another 82 minutes before Jordan Ayew bagged late on, from off the substitutes' bench.

While Leicester's clinical edge was laughable at points in South Yorkshire, Gary Rowett's men would have no option but to applaud the heroics of Pierce Charles in the Wednesday net, come the full-time whistle, as the agile 20-year-old kept saving the Owls' bacon throughout.

Amazingly, this isn't the first time these paths have crossed in such a way, as the Northern Irish stopper was also exceptional at the King Power earlier in the long campaign.

Leicester won't want to face Charles next season

Come the end of the whirlwind 1-1 draw, Charles would accumulate a jaw-dropping 11 saves, as Leicester were continually left scratching their heads at the magic the ex-Manchester City 'keeper was serving up.

Making seven crucial saves in the box, as Leicester missed countless gilt-edged chances, the 20-year-old will hope he can continue to shine next season, as Wednesday settle into their new League One environment.

Charles hasn't just emerged from nowhere, however, as he was equally formidable on the opening day, as the then Marti Cifuentes Foxes hosted the Owls, to kick off the brand new second tier campaign.

Astonishingly, the hard-to-beat number one would kickstart his season in the demanding Championship with another excellent 11 saves pulled off, as Leicester had to wait until the 87th minute to seal a 2-1 victory.

It's clear that Charles has an extremely bright future in the game, with Leicester crying out for a goalkeeper with the same hunger to succeed and put his neck on the line, as Asmir Begovic remains sidelined.

Instead, they've had to put up with stand-in stopper Jakub Stolarczyk, and he would've want the ground to swallow him up, when he fished Yates' opener out of his net.

Leicester will be hoping that they face no more superstar keepers like Charles, in crunch games to come, as another huge fixture at the bottom of the wearying division arrives soon, when the Foxes travel to Portsmouth in the middle of April.

Draws have to be turned into wins, and so Rowett will be praying his team have packed their shooting boots, too, for the clash with Swansea City this coming Saturday, before they make the daunting trip to Fratton Park.

If they can't pull off a escape, Leicester will likely have to face Charles again next season, with the Northern Irishman licking his lips at the prospect of irriating the Midlands giants, once more.
