Lineker's insight into how badly Leicester is run

Former Leicester City striker and famous television celebrity Gary Lineker has been chatting about the Foxes again. And, when the England great speaks about LCFC, the more plugged-in supporters amidst the Blue Army generally listen and take note. Lineker usually talks openly and honestly when addressing the east Midlands club's issues. That is because the current Match of the Day host is Leicester through and through. It matters!

Clearly the problems I alluded to are very serious at present, and they are many. The King Power players have not been up to the high standards required to remain in the English top flight this season. So their EPL status hangs in the balance even at this early point in the campaign. Yet things on Filbert Way haven't been handled well by the stuttering hierarchy either: and I include Khun Top Srivaddhanaprabha in that mess, along with director of football Jon Rudkin.

Lately, Lineker offered insight into just how badly Leicester City Football Club is run in contemporary times. He also tried to pinpoint reasons for decline since, and including, the Brendan Rodgers era. So, what did the retired professional say about City? Is he right? And can LCFC chiefs, their staff and the frankly worrying squad put it right in 2024/25 before it's too late?!

Leicester City's woes may deepen as club legend gives views

Lineker's fellow MotD pundit and similarly respected former footballer Alan Shearer thinks the Leicester team needs 'surgery'. And he is bang on in that assessment. However, the complications don't end with an inadequate roster.

Lineker noted the fan base's displeasure at how City's affairs are being handled in general. Pointing to chants for Rudkin to be dismissed. In addition to that, the 64-year-old asserts that failure to back certain managers in the transfer market derailed solid progress. If you ask me, it's too late to revive the modern side.

"There were chants of ‘Rudkin out’. He’s the director of football. I think most Leicester fans think he’s the problem. Leicester’s problems are as much off field. You can blame coaches and managers all you want, but if the club’s not being run well, then it’s very difficult.

It’s a tough job for him (Ruud van Nistelrooy). I remember when Brendan Rodgers, a few years ago, after that really successful run, he said ‘we need a refresh’ and he wasn’t backed at that point, with Rudkin.

Then (fans) they end up blaming Rodgers and that’s an elite coach we had there. Fans always turn on the coach first, but they’re not doing that this time. We’ll see what transpires."
