Alan Shearer has put himself in the firing line. He thinks one Arsenal player deserved to be sent off against Leicester City at the weekend.

Leicester City came close to picking up a point at the Emirates Stadium. However, two injury time goals for Arsenal canceled out two quick fire goals from James Justin.

Now, Leicester are still without a win in the Premier League. However, the performance at the weekend showed that Steve Cooper's Foxes are capable of competing with big teams, even away from home.

So far this Premier League season, more and more players have seen red. It is a result of the Premier League tightening rules.

In fact, Alan Shearer thinks Arsenal were lucky to not see their third red card of the season against Leicester.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Alan Shearer called out the referee Samuel Barrott for not showing a second yellow card to Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori.

Alan Shearer is referring to a moment which happened in the 70th minute, seven minutes after Leicester equalised. Leicester were on the break and Riccardo Calafiori stuck a leg out. At the time, Calafiori avoided a second yellow card.

In his own words, Shearer said: “I think that’s an awful decision, you can clearly see Calafiori stick his leg out. It’s a deliberate trip. Yellow card that should be. Absolutely. It’s such an important point in the game."

Unsurprisingly, Leicester City boss Steve Cooper agrees with Alan Shearer. He placed a particular emphasis on poor decisions from the referee, first pointing out that before Arsenal's first goal, they had commited a foul on Jamie Vardy. Then, he claims Calafiori should have been sent off.

Steve Cooper said: "Although we don’t come into games trying to get players sent off, why [Samuel Barrott] hasn’t sent off Calafiori is a little bit beyond belief. Because of the spell we’re in and the spell that I’m in personally, I’m trying to not let referees’ decisions be the headline."

Interesting comments from Steve Cooper, it must be said. He has never shied away from media questions, but it shows he is aware of the mounting pressure he is under to get Leicester's first win of the season.

Look, this is a game of what-ifs. The truth is that Arsenal created many big chances, whereas Leicester made the most out of a little. Leicester must now focus on the next league match.
