What promotion really means

Promotion is not just playing in the best league in the world. It is also the financial impact, the attraction of talent, the ability to raid EFL Championship rivals, and of course there is an emotive impact of going straight back up under new stewardship.

When Leicester City are back in the Premier League, with another trophy to belt, they look like a club a player wants to go to: they can play in the best league in the world, they can make a name for themselves to either stay with the King Power or gain a chance at a bigger club, and they get to be part of a story. To me, I see being in the Prem as important as winning any competition. You attract better players. That is exactly what we need to do over the next two seasons.

Promotion also gives the Champion Foxes the financial means with which to pay those attracted talents. Broadcast revenue, sponsorship money, and higher transfer fees: Premier League football is the gift horse which keeps gifting. The Midlands team needs those extra pots so they can afford their continued refreshment and improvement.
