Leicester City transfers that must happen before Premier League re-entry
2. The clockwork
Winks is the clockwork which makes Maresca's system tick and allows KDH to maraud defenders while acting as a link between the possessive defenders and that dynamic midfield. Hamza Choudhury has been pushed to a RB-DM hybrid role along with the Portuguese legend, so he is not an option here. Sammy Braybrooke will not be ready and Madivadua is not suited to that role. So, the only option is to sign a second team or bench player who can pass really well from deep and ideally has a wide range for passing.
3. The dynamo
Leicester rely heavily on the creative ability of KDH working alongside wingers and forward-running midfielders (meant to be Praet or Ndidi). What the King Power need in midfield will also be another versatile attack-minded midfielder who can score a goal from the edge of the box or can rush between defensive lines while carrying the ball. We currently lack that and do need it for this system to perform well in the Premier League. This would be a first team signing and needs to represent great quality even if over-priced. The Championship's failed promotion candidates will be the best place to look.
4. A winger to cover
This is perhaps the one position which requires the least thought. We need one versatile winger who can provide an option when either Mavididi or Fatawu are injured to play with McAteer. Ideally then, they should be a left-winger with pace that is inexpensive and gets some goals, although it would not be the priority.
