Leicester instructed to sign standout and why he is a good choice

Leicester City need goals to stay up. Steve Cooper will undoubtedly be looking for further reinforcements as the Foxes’ transfer window looks like one of their best despite the loss of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. Here is who they should grab.

The King Power club have so many options with money to spend, money they need to spend to have a chance of staying up. It is clear to me they need to replace their lossed goalscorer with another midfielder capable of taking the stage, lighting up the performance, and scoring some goals. The Championship looks like a great place to sign such a player from.

Gabriel Sara of Norwich City is one such name. However, the purple patch of Sammie Szmodics is what raises eyebrows in the East Midlands. 33 goals across 48 played games in the 23/24 campaign is nothing to snuff at; and in a creative but overall underperforming Blackburn Rovers side to boot. Szmodics put his name on the transfer window display.

Leicester City should go all-in

The Foxes will need a mixture of youthful explosiveness and creativity alongside the experience and composure of consistent performers and winners. The mentality, the overall balance, and of course scoring goals will be critical if Cooper is to keep Leicester in the Premier League. Often then, the wings and midfield are where a team will either stay in the top division or fall back into the yo-yo of mediocre obscurity.

That is where Szmodics could come in. 28-years-old, inexpensive, clearly in a purple patch. what else does a player need to do to secure a move? Not much. I feel it would be wise for Cooper’s team to not spend excessively on hopeful prospects while they are already reeling from major changes to side with several departures and incomings already confirmed.

Instead, a seasoned player with the composure and winning mentality to come straight into the starting XI, but the humility and age where they do not necessarily demand it from a team with an existing foundation. Such a player provides great versatility and impact for Leicester. The Foxes should sign the Irishman.
