Leicester may still sign free transfer star as Cannon exit explained
According to some reports doing the rounds, Leicester City Football Club might perhaps still make another free signing. This news comes in spite of the transfer window currently being closed. Nevertheless, another potentially important incoming may transpire on Filbert Way. But who is the possible new face at King Power Stadium?
Meanwhile a previously unexpected departure from LCFC occurred. Tom Cannon's exit had become more foreseeable in fairness. Yet the true reason for the former Everton man's loan move to Stoke City has now finally been properly explained. This is thanks to a Leicester-specialist journalist. So, why did Cannon temporarily leave?
Tom Cannon has been loaned to Stoke City in spite of only recently being acquired - is he not rated at Leicester City?
I would suspect that Cannon is in fact well-liked at the King Power. Leicester recruitment chiefs, along with manager Steve Cooper, would have been attempting to permanently offload the one-time Toffee had they deemed him totally inferior.
It is more likely that optimism remains concerning Cannon, if I make an educated guess. He was bought for a hefty fee, especially when you consider the factors. The east Midlands team paid well for an unavoidably inexperienced Premier League prospect. A couple of Foxes bosses haven't particularly used him much. Or they may have possibly misused the striker in a development sense.
However, just to bring you back on side, Cannon simply wasn't sold. He's gone to a division and a side in the Championship's Stoke where he can develop, shine and come back with renewed importance and confidence in order to clinch a cemented LCFC spot. At least that's the plan at the King Power, I imagine.
Cannon is, of course, a full international footballer with Republic of Ireland. Implying a pedigree at his young age. So, what was the real reason for the 21-year-old being allowed to briefly depart?
Well, Leicester Mercury reporter Jordan Blackwell seems to believe that the centre forward was merely surplus to requirements. I deduce that Cannon is rated at Leicester judging by the in the know correspondent's comments. Patson Daka, Jamie Vardy and Odsonne Edouard are ahead.
A free signing on the horizon for Foxes irrespective of transfer opportunities ending?
City can still add to their ranks by using a well-known transfer technicality. Even though sides cannot presently financially reinforce their rosters, they can acquire talent without payment. Footballers without a club are permitted to be added to squads. And the Leicestershire outfit have their eyes on one such man named Yusuf Yazıcı:
"It’s claimed Steve Cooper’s side are ‘particularly interested’ in the 27-year-old. The report further adds Leicester have opened talks with his entourage, hoping to ‘reach an agreement quickly’.
The Foxes would face competition from both Everton and the Cherries as the report says the two clubs are also interested in the Turkey international. They’ll have to act quickly because Leicester have already made contact to sign him for free.
Since Yazıcı is currently a free agent, the three English clubs can sign him outside the transfer window. There’s no mention of his preference between Leicester, Everton and Bournemouth.
The player scored 12 goals and registered four assists from 42 games in all competitions for Lille last season."
