Long-time Leicester striker rejects new contract as clubs eye Foxes mastermind
Rumour has it that a centreforward who's been with Leicester City for nearly seven years has rejected a new contract from the King Power outfit. Furthermore, the player will not accept any offer to stay in Leicestershire. In addition to commenting on that matter, Foxes of Leicester give an opinion on speculation that sides from the Premier League and abroad are eyeing up LCFC mastermind Enzo Maresca. Will the Italian remain in charge of the east Midlands team, or will he be poached by a so-called bigger club?
Will Enzo Maresca be at the Leicester City helm for 2024/25?
Before we get into the particulars of the story at hand, I would like to give a view on this one. Hopefully my verdict will ease any worries within the Blue Army, but you never know. I think Maresca will be at Leicester for the coming season.
Nevertheless, Maresca is clearly becoming more and more reputable in the footballing world, and rightly so. First of all, he is a former 'pupil' or, more accurately, a colleague of Pep Guardiola. That is always a point of note in this sport. The former Manchester City staff member has literally taken what he learned with the Citizens and Guardiola to great effect.
The 44-year-old implemented MCFC's inverted fullback system remarkably well with the Foxes, in truth. There were a few hiccups along the way, of course. But to be triumphant in a division such as the Championship with a delicate and occasionally nuanced style of play is actually remarkable. This will be a huge factor in why mid-table La Liga outfit Sevilla are supposedly 'monitoring' Maresca.
With all due respect, why would Maresca want to go to Spain and join los Nervionenses right now? And why wouldn't he wish to try his luck in the English top-flight with a club where he is obviously content and has enjoyed a successful, albeit short, spell? In the meantime, sides from England are also said to hold an interest in the one-time West Bromwich Albion man. Get his new deal on the table, LCFC!
Leicester City attacker Kelechi Iheanacho declines fresh Foxes deal and chooses to leave club
You can tell by the subheading that Iheanacho's seven-year stint on Filbert Way is reportedly at an end. It'll be sad to lose a great squad member as well as a happy footfootballer like the Nigerian, in my opinion. However, a transfer is hopefully beneficial for all parties.
"Leicester City have opted to offer the Nigerian international a new deal, but the former Manchester City forward is reportedly set to reject any advancement from the Foxes, per Business Day."
