Plymouth 1-0 Leicester City: 3 things we learned
By Damon Carter
A failing striker given way too much time
Patson Daka had a stinker. He will know that more than anyone. After finding the net after straying offside in the first half, he produced nothing but frustration. Dewsbury-Hall rightly lost his temper with him in the first half after some seriously strange positional play saw him standing in no attacking position to score.
His second half got worse as he rolled an easy shot wide with only the keeper to beat, made more poor runs into the box and lost out in challenges with defenders. His day was compounded when he found himself in acres of space on the six-yard box and rather than taking a shot he shanked a left foot shot horribly wide much to the relief and amusement of the home support. That was his last action as he left the field for the predictable substitution of Jamie Vardy. The Sky Sports Cameras showed him berating himself on the bench angry and upset. Hopefully he can put that behind him, but in reality that might be the end of his season.
It is not the managers fault that Daka cannot score, but why is the manager even picking him at this stage of the season when we need players firing on all cylinders, this is not the time to be carrying players that aren't doing what is being asked of them. The season is running out and starting a striker who hasn't scored since the start of February is asking for trouble. Tom Cannon looked on from the bench wondering if he will see any more minutes this season. Only the manager will know the answer to that.
