Why Leicester signing rejected Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Serie A for Foxes

Leicester City’s new centre-back Caleb Okoli has made his way into the starting XI. Along with this, the Foxes will be happy to hear the remarks of the player’s agent about choosing Leicester over other options.

The Italian international defender has made it into the starting XI despite the strong performances of Jannik Vestergaard initially seeing the Dane take the starting spot alongside Belgian international Wout Faes. The Italian may have got the favour of Steve Cooper, who has yet to find a victory in the Premier League.

Leicester City player’s agent on players choice

Okoli’s agent has been speaking to international media after the defender’s bench-bound debut for the Italian national side regarding his recent transfer from Atalanta to the King Power. Here is what the agent said and our opinion on the comments.

"Someone from the Bundesliga, then French teams and even some Italian ones"

Alessandro Barison

Leicester was not alone in their interest for Caleb Okoli, with clubs from across members of the top five leagues trying to tie down the player. The CB brings an incomplete but malleable package for a side looking to take advantage of the strong physical and technical foundations the player offers. Particularly, the player is strong in the air and his defensive positioning to make blocks is excellent.

"when Leicester came along he said to me: “It’s my moment”. He wanted the Premier League"

Alessandro Barison

Leicester City is in the Premier League for now, and as such offers any player a compelling opportunity: a first team in need of improvement, a squad with versaitile and exciting talent and youngsters, and a chance of playing in one of the most intense leagues in world football. For Okoli, it is a team he can get into, a team he can develop with, and a league he wants to be in.

It is hard to say what would happen if the Pride of the East Midlands were to be relegated, whether the Italian defender would then opt to exit the Foxes, but realistically the team we have assembled is certainly gifted enough. The current blockage to victories might be small team selection errors from the Welsh head coach instead of any major issue with the side.

Caleb Okoli wanted the Premier League and consistent football, so chose to reject other clubs in favour of Leicester City. It feels good to have the King Power club finally chosen instead of being the ones losing out to other clubs. A good transfer window, strong additions; all Leicester could do with is more players like Okoli.
