As promised, temporary Leicester City manager Andy King has put some players in the "shop window". Though his intentions are not with a view to transfers: but the chance for the prospective new head coach to view peripheral squad members.

This significant rotation comes at a time of profound turmoil for the Foxes, who have seen their season spiral toward a potential catastrophe. Their recent form is nothing short of disastrous: marked by six defeats in their last eight English Football League Championship fixtures. A run coupled with a points deduction that has left them languishing just one place above the relegation zone.

The psychological blow of LCFC's midweek meeting with Southampton cannot be overstated. After racing into a commanding 3–0 lead by half-time, Leicester suffered a historic King Power capitulation to lose 4-3 in stoppage time.

Adding to these on-pitch struggles are further on-field blows: King is missing potentially key pillars at this level like Jannik Vestergaard and Harry Souttar through injury. Not to mention star man Jordan James's absence. Today’s youthful selection for the subsequent Saints clash feels less like a strategic choice before a final roll of the division dice for a club staring down the barrel of consecutive relegations.

How Leicester City line up

City's starting XI is led by goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk; behind a defensive unit of Olabade Aluko, Caleb Okoli, captain Benjamin Nelson, and Victor Kristiansen.

The midfield is anchored by Oliver Skipp and Louis Page. While Divine Mukasa aligns with Stephy Mavididi and 16-year-old Jeremy Monga in supporting veteran striker Jordan Ayew.

Subs

The substitute options are actually quite strong. It features experienced stopper Asmir Begovic alongside Ricardo Pereira and Luke Thomas.

Youngster Kevon Gray, Wanya Marcal are also joined by Harry Winks, Silko Thomas, Dujuan Richards and Patson Daka on the bench. A boost is so desperately needed for momentum here.
