Respected journalist offers his thoughts on whether Top would ever sell Leicester

A respected journalist has come out with his thoughts on whether Khun Top would ever sell Leicester City, as the Foxes stare relegation in the face.

Khun Top's ongoing love affair with Leicester City, which started with his great father Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha being in charge of the Foxes as chairman, looks to be heading towards a sour end.

Indeed, since he took on chairman and CEO duties in 2018, the Midlands club has been on a steady decline, even if he did lift the FA Cup proudly - alongside the likes of Jamie Vardy - in 2021.

Two relegations from the Premier League have now occurred under the 40-year-old's watch, with back-to-back relegations possibly on the menu at the end of the season, all the way down to League One, further staining his long-term King Power legacy.

With losses coming in at the £180m mark, resulting in a six-point deduction coming into play this season, there is zero guarantee that if Leicester were to go down, they'd immediately spring back up.

Instead, they might well just be seen as another giant that just continues to tumble down the EFL ladder, before going extinct for good.

Top did front up about all the issues plaguing the once proud Premier League champions, when he pulled the plug on Marti Cifuentes, as he admitted he was mostly to blame for the club's sudden drop in quality.

He honestly said, when opening up to BBC Radio Leicester earlier in the bleak season - "The [person] most people should blame is me because I own the club, I'm the chairman."

At this point in time, the majority of the disgruntled Foxes fanbase would love a brand-new set of ideas to come into the club in the chairman role, but with Top also stating that he wants the club to stick together, it looks unlikely that the demoralised 40-year-old will sell up soon.

Henry Winter, who is a respected football journalist, has opened up as to what he believes Top would do, if put in a position of selling up, and it doesn't make for particularly optimistic reading for Leicester supporters.

What the future could hold for Top

Top has now been at the centre of some of Leicester's most brilliant times, and most agonising times, in recent memory.

He will always be inextricably linked to the club, as he played a background role in the club's Premier League title success, under his father's previously beloved stewardship.

But, all that is going on, now, is such a sad decline, leaving the Thai owner in a sticky situation.

When quizzed with what Top could potentially do in the near future, when it comes to selling the club, Winter provided this answer on social media - "Tbh no. Would be such a difficult emotional decision because of the shrine and the memories."

This is a fair point, as Top would find the decision to walk away from the club, that gave him so much prior joy, a pain-staking one to make.

He has been called out as being "naive" by Winter, as the club remains on the slide, so it might well get to a point, very soon, where he has to consider giving up his ownership, before everything gets too ugly.
