A more trusted journalist has now claimed other existing reports about Leicester City's managerial search are incorrect. When the Foxes finally sack Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, they will make a move for a new team boss. But suggestions that former Southampton man Russell Martin has already secured the Leicester position are said to wrong.
Two named candidates remain in the running to become the latest LCFC gaffer. Martin must still beat another candidate to complete his move to the King Power, according to Sky Sports. We will discuss the differing media stories, including the quality of both sources. And then offer our opinions on the validity of the information. Not to mention naming our preference concerning a potential change in management.
Leicester will soon be without a manager, if we trust some of the hearsay regarding affairs on Filbert Way. So, what's the latest?
Wrong report about new Leicester City head coach with couple of possibilities left on the wishlist in effect
City's Blue Army fan base have just suffered an almost intolerable season back in the Premier League. If it wasn't for Jamie Vardy's fitting send off, and the emergence of Jake Evans and Jeremy Monga, it would have been total disaster at Leicester. A catastrophe.
But the club survives; only a comprehensive rebuild will do the trick now. I'm unconvinced Russell Martin is the person to conduct that massive and crucial task due to his attempts with the Saints in 2024/25.
Meanwhile Van Nistelrooy has pretty much shown he's not ready. Reverting to coaching emerging talents may be the most suitable area for the ex-Manchester United striker. If RvN does depart when the campaign finishes, as is predicted, the Foxes hierarchy might perhaps turn to Danny Rohl instead.
Unlike Martin's representatives, Rohl's people haven't ostensibly been contacted by LCFC bosses - yet. Thankfully, reliable Midlands-specialist reporter Rob Dorsett was on hand to inadvertently correct apparent Daily Mail misinformation:
"Van Nistelrooy set to leave Leicester after final game of the season As Sky Sports News reported a month ago, former Southampton boss Russell Martin and the current Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl are priority candidates for Leicester. Rohl has a buy-out clause at Hillsbrough which is thought to reduce by 50 per cent if a Championship club wishes to employ him rather than a Premier League club."
