There are so many exciting youngsters at Martin's disposal, and they have all stood out in their own way across the off-season games.
Utilising so many starlets is nice to see, but it does speak volumes as to the depleted nature of the 40-year-old's camp at the moment, with the one-time Rangers boss evidently hungry for some more signings - away from McCarthy and Chaplin - when speaking after the Malaga draw.
Regardless of who does come in as a result of the Scotsman's firm comments, the head coach must trust that some of these youngsters can do the job in League One, after a lively pre-season to date.

It would feel like a waste to get so much out of this energetic group of players and then push them to one side when the bread and butter of domestic action returns.
It's clear that these players are ready for a challenge, especially Braybrooke, who was shoved into the deep-end of League Two last campaign with Chesterfield, and flourished.
The worry will be that exposure only to U21s football could result in figures such as Otchere stagnating, rather than blossoming and maturing.
Partnering all this electrifying youth talent, with some experience, could be the route to go down to try and win an instant promotion, with Chaplin sticking out during the 3-3 draw, alongside all the youth players, for how willing he was to drive forward at every given opportunity.
The neutral is expecting Leicester to win the League One title, and how refreshing would it be for the Foxes faithful to witness their potential champions with a youthful heartbeat, after the past couple of seasons of awful, lifeless displays from stale first-teamers.
