Russell Martin already feels more likeable and personable than Gary Rowett in the Leicester City hotseat.
Indeed, the 40-year-old went out of his way to speak to the Foxes fans who took in the 120-minute runout against Bristol Rovers, with Rowett never feeling connected to the fanbase in the same way, as he came and went in a drab flash.
Moreover, the Scotsman has already displayed more passion on the sidelines than the recently dismissed boss was ever capable of, as he tries to be the manager who instantly lifts the sleeping giants back to where they belong in the Championship, and maybe, beyond.
He isn't without his faults, though, as his recent comments about Wout Faes will have irked a large portion of Foxes supporters...
Martin's comments about Faes
Martin has certainly raised a few eyebrows during his early tenure for his choice of captains for the friendly matches.
Against Northampton, he selected Hamza Choudhury as his armband wearer for the day, with many Leicester fans hoping that Choudhury would be moved on this summer, as he played regularly across the last two relegation seasons.
Instead, he has been handed chances to impress under the clean slate regime of the ex-Rangers manager, and he has been open in gifting other players minutes who looked dead set for a summer move in the aforementioned Faes.
Last summer, the Belgian defender wanted to leave the club, so his heart is surely not in this League One battle long-term.
Despite his past assertions that he wanted to move on, Faes remains on the Leicester books currently, and he was shockingly named as captain during the 120-minute marathon against the Gas.
Martin would speak at length on Faes at the full-time whistle, with his comments on the 6-foot-2 centre-back no doubt leaving a bad taste in Leicester fans' mouths, as they're left wondering whether his appointment is a breath of fresh air, after all.
He said: "Pre-season I wouldn't get too caught up in it. We had two different captains on Saturday and two different ones tonight.
"I'm trying to learn about the players. I can't judge from what's gone on, I can only judge from what I've seen in two-and-a-half weeks. He's been an unbelievable professional. Really dedicated, helps the young guys in every session and he's a really good football player."
Foxes supporters who have had to endure the past couple of seasons might go against this notion that Faes is a "really good football player", with the door needing to be shown to the 28-year-old, before the League One opener against Notts County takes place, despite the brand-new boss clearly being a fan...
He must look to get rid
The Martin era at the King Power was meant to be a bright step into the future.
Keeping Faes around means the stench of back-to-back relegations remains present, with the Foxes number three only keeping one clean sheet from 15 Championship appearances last season.
Only chipping in with three clean sheets during the disastrous Premier League campaign prior, as well, he really does feel like a has-been at the King Power, even if Martin is speculating that he could stay put.
It should be very concerning that there is a lack of interest in Faes' services, but if a suitor does come in for the Belgian between now and the window shutting, Leicester must part ways.
Martin's comments on the £15m flop will have upset Foxes fans who thought he was in all in for an exciting, promotion-winning future, as keeping the nonchalant centre-back around is an acceptance that mediocrity can still be served up and go unpunished, rather than striving to build a powerful, spirited machine that does everything in their power to take League One by storm.
