Gary Rowett has managed to offer more calm from the dug-out since taking on the reins at Leicester City, but he hasn't - as of yet - been able to guide the Foxes away from the bottom three.

Indeed, only one win has been collected from his opening six games at the helm, with the usually mild-mannered 52-year-old calling for more "fight" from his troops, at the close of the grim 3-1 defeat against Queens Park Rangers.

Three draws across those clashes to date does mean Leicester have only lost twice since he was appointed, but more wins need to be forthcoming, to bridge the two-point gap between themselves and Midlands rivals West Bromwich Albion in 21st.

Rowett has also had to contend with an anxiety-inducing list of injuries since he walked into the building, with the already light squad looking even lighter, as Harry Souttar, among other first teamers, remain sidelined.

Asmir Begovic hasn't featured since the end of February through his own injury issues, meaning Jakub Stolarczyk has had to step up as Rowett's number one across the last four bumpy Championship matches.

He was notably wobbly against QPR, with only one save made as the R's eventually ran riot.

In stark contrast, Begovic's last match - before injury intervened - saw him make three big saves as an unlikely point was secured against promotion-chasing Middlesbrough.

It remains to be seen when the Bosnian will next line up for the lowly second tier outfit, but he has made his feelings known about the bleak situation at the King Power, still, even as he is sidelined with a rolled ankle.

Begovic's honest assessment

This will be a unique situation for the experienced 'keeper, considering he has played the majority of his career in England at the very pinnacle in the Premier League.

256 appearances down in the top-flight, Begovic might soon be returning to League One for the first time since he lined up for Yeovil Town during the 2008/09 campaign.

When speaking to sports outlet MeridianSport BiH recently, he was honest about the situation currently unfolding at the King Power.

He said: “It’s been a tough season for us. Nobody expected a situation like this, and we’ve also had problems off the pitch.

The focus now is on the end of the season — to sort things out and stay in the Championship. Then we’ll see what happens next. The fans aren’t satisfied, and they have the right to feel that way. Things haven’t gone as we expected, but it is what it is. We have nine matches left to avoid the worst-case scenario."

As Begovic correctly states, the next few games for Leicester's season are monumental, to try and stave off their unexpected fate of back-to-back relegations.

Will the 6-foot-6 stopper feature across these huge contests to come?

Only time will tell, as he battles to be back fit, but with two relegations already on his CV across his extensive career, he won't be keen to make that number a hat-trick.
