Since 2021, Boubakary Soumaré has only made 69 appearances for Leicester. The former Lille player did take a loan spell to Sevilla. For a Foxes side that is headed for the Championship, it appears as if the midfielder's time with City is coming to an end.

After arriving from Ligue 1, City fans were hoping for a true box-to-box presence. As evident by how, more or less, every match unfolded this year, LCFC hasn't had much of any presence in the midfield. There was hope for players like Soumaré under Enzo Maresca. Since then, however, particularly under Ruud van Nistelrooy, any hopes for players in more advanced positions look dim at best.

Before the current campaign kicked off, the midfielder had received interest from other clubs. In fact, City rejected a deal that would have sent Soumaré to AS Monaco. Looking back now, this appears to have been a case of missing out when a player's stock was at its highest.

In 2022, The Sun reported that Leicester had rejected a deal for the French midfielder that would have been worth £13 million. Foot Mercato then wrote on renewed interest this past summer once more. Clearly nothing came of those discussions, but now the Foxes are faced with needing to unload roster members.

Route Leicester need to explore ASAP

Among all of the unknowns that the club is currently facing, LCFC could have the makings of a deal in place if the Ligue 1 side wants to still obtain Soumaré for their squad. Considering what is likely to take place in the East Midlands, they will be smart to work out a deal soon, even if it doesn't exactly match the previous price tag.

No one wanted for City to be in this position. With a looming managerial decision and a lot of departures for Leicester on the horizon, the known interest from one buyer could be something of a gift for the executives to take advantage of.
