The supercomputer has spoken and it's predicted Leicester City to be relegated from the Premier League. But with how many points?

Leicester City are currently 19th in the Premier League table. Their form has slowly dwindled out under Ruud van Nistelrooy and now, he is arguably in worse form than Steve Cooper was as the boss.

Ruud van Nistelrooy begun his reign with two great results for the Foxes. However, the natural course of progression saw the Dutch manager peter out of form. Now, Leicester are without a win in their last eight Premier League games.

So, it seems like Leicester are now walking the plank. While we can't throw definites around at this stage of the season, fans are bracing for the second season in the Championship in three years.

And now, the proclaimed "supercomputer" from stat experts Opta has affirmed Leicester's worst fear of relegation. According to Opta's forecasting, Leicester are predicted to finish 19th in the Premier League table, so they would be relegated.

Their expected points tally by the end of the season is 26.13, which we'll ever so kindly round down to 26. If this points tally comes true, it would be a worse finish than the 2022/23 season.

In that season, Leicester not only finished 18th but they finished there with 36 points. Therefore, they are forecasted to complete this season with 12 less points than their last Premier League campaign.

Furthermore, Opta has kindly granted Leicester with an 8.5% chance of surviving relegation. This could change tonight, when Wolves face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, though.

So, what does all of this mean for Leicester? Well nothing objectively. As Opta will be the first to tell you, these are only projections. Very rarely do projections actually come true.

That said, it does give Leicester fans an appreciation of the current situation. The players do now face an uphill battle to cling onto their place in the Premier League. Therefore, morale is understandably impacted - Let's just hope that confidence is found somewhere, anywhere actually.

Of course, this goes without saying but Leicester are the last team to care about odds or percentages. We don't need to mention what happened in the 2015/16 season but ever since then, Leicester have been immune to being underestimated.
