The best Leicester news aside from signing a striker or Jordan James

According to a crucial report published a few days ago (which seemed to get slightly lost amidst games coming thick and fast), supporters of Leicester City Football Club should prepare to be happy. We were given false hope about Michail Antonio joining on a free transfer recently. Annoyingly for all involved, the ex-West Ham United striker sustained a reported injury whilst training with the Foxes of late. That development ended the chances of the Jamaica National Team representative becoming a Fox - for now, at least.

That cruel twist of irony emegered after a determined Antonio managed to get himself fit following a nightmarish Ferrari crash in Coppice Row, Theydon Bois, Essex over a year ago. The Blue Army were already worrying about star midfielder Jordan James being recalled by Stade Rennais before the deal for the ideal centre forward was called off. James has been so good at King Power Stadium and in the English Football League Championship in general that it is odd Rennes even allowed him to leave on loan to begin with.

City must, of course, take up the supposed 'option to buy' as soon as possible. Allowing somebody of James's quality, youth and low value to slip through the LE2 net would be a disaster of (almost) N'golo Kante proportions. I'm not suggesting that the Welshman is as competent and skilled as the Frenchman - but the former is an exceptional footballer. Another standout baller is Abdul Fatawu; I have what is said to be an vital update on the Ghana international for the LCFC fan base.

This is the best possible Leicester City declaration apart from maybe signing a striker or getting Jordan James on a permanent basis

Word is Premier League sharks are circling for Fatawu. Bad times! However, City bosses will apparently 'stand firm' in the face of any bids from Bournemouth, Everton or Sunderland this winter:

"Asked how City would approach interest in Fatawu, Cifuentes said: “There is always a strategy, always a plan. Abdul is a very important player for us and the club showed this in the summer. As far as I’m aware, nothing has changed.” Cifuentes wouldn’t go as far to completely rule out a sale for Fatawu this month. Asked if the Ghanaian was definitively not for sale, he said: “What I’m saying is that he’s a very important player for us and the club has a clear way of working in these cases."
