The Leicester stars who should be dropped with replacements ready

Leicester City's failure to secure even a point at Hull City means the Foxes fall outside the top six. With it being critical that Leicester challenge near the top, it is time for Marti Cifuentes to make some team changes.

Leicester City made several changes to their expected starting XI against Hull City, which led to a more-than-disappointing first-half routing of the former Premier League side. The King Power Club took off Jeremy Monga, Aaron Ramsey, Ricardo Pereira, and Julian Carranza from their Portsmouth draw. In contrast to their Swansea City win, they did bring Patson Daka on, but Bobby Decordova-Reid was unavailable.

It is blatantly obvious that the change to bring in Jordan Ayew as a winger, Boubakary Soumare in midfield, Hamza Choudhury at right-back/DM, and Daka upfront was a recipe for a much weaker side. As a result of the extremely poor performance, Marti Cifuentes has already hinted at the need for a change.

"Of course I need to pick the right selections. It’s very obvious today that I need to look at myself, not about those four but about the 11 that started the game because they definitely didn’t perform as I wanted"
Marti Cifuentes

The Spaniard made the right call that we do need regular refreshment. What I think went wrong really was an inability to alter the system to suit the players which were selected. If you are going to play unsuited players in unsuited positions in an unsuited system, the result is not going to be pretty. Realistically, Cifuentes needs to have one system for his preferred team and another for rotation.

Leicester City's possible changes

Next game, the Foxes must be prepared for a real rethink. The plan is not working when we make changes to the XI, although it is now to me certain who are starting XI ought to be. Nevertheless, a few stars are in need of dropping, with others deserving a chance to prove themselves at this level. It would be unfair after a poor performance not to make those decisions.

Jakub Stolarczyk out, Francisco Vieites in. In the net, the Polish goalkeeper has been pretty good though not particularly exceptional. Improving on Mads Hermansen in terms of actually coming out to claim balls, but we have seen the fundementals worsen. The Spanish goalkeeper is more experienced and within his prime for his career, giving the player a chance to have a go could be great, but due to Stolarczyk not being extraordinary should not be harmful.

Wout Faes & Jannik Vestergaard out, Caleb Okoli & Ben Nelson in. Leicester's central defense has been uninspiring since it became the Dane and Belgian. Neither have done anything out of the expected for the pair, and we have seen a continuation of the inconsistency and position unawareness from the two. Okoli moves more, Nelson has better positioning and composure.

Upfront, Jake Evans should be given a shot, with Daka, Carranza, and Ayew completely dropped. Monga, Ramsey, and Pereira should return to the starting lineup. Our strikers are the worst we have ever seen in our recent memory: non-creative, cannot score goals, and do not contribute defensively. Evans is a clinical finisher, if inexperienced, so he should at least offer a more passionate and exciting attack.
