Amani Richards is the latest departee in a long list of Leicester City youngsters to walk away from the King Power this summer.

Indeed, after scoring 32 times for both the U18s and U21s in total, Richards is now on the books of Barnsley heading into next season, with the 21-year-old noting that he felt the chance to shine at Oakwell was a "great opportunity" to advance his senior career.

Clearly, he felt as he if couldn't progress his senior career any further staying put at the Foxes, with Silko Thomas also walking away from Leicester this off-season, to advance his own career in the men's game with Wycombe Wanderers.

There is also the notable example of Jeremy Monga, who is now a £12.5m pick-up by Manchester City, with the teenage sensation featuring irregularly last season in the Championship, before being won by the ten-time Premier League champions.

The hope will be that all these exits end soon, rather than this becoming an ongoing trend, as there are a number of exciting youth talents who could excel in League One next campaign for Russell Martin's men.

Martin has several exciting youngsters at his disposal

There seems to be an endless amount of raw youngsters who are ready to burst into the first team picture at the moment, despite the likes of Richards and Thomas leaving the building, clearly agitated by their lack of men's football.

Kirsten Otchere falls into his bracket, and he has already scored this pre-season for Leicester against Bristol Rovers.

However, if it becomes apparent soon that he won't be utilised as a regular senior figure, he might look for a move away, like Richards opted for with Barnsley, and he would be happily snapped up by another club willing to take a gamble, as he has 26 youth goals next to his name.

Moreover, Sammy Braybrooke will view this forthcoming season as make or break time for his long-term Foxes future, after excelling in League Two last campaign with Chesterfield.

Alongside Otchere, he has stood out this off-season, and Martin must be willing to hand him significant first team opportunities moving forward, or Braybrooke will be snatched away from his boyhood club, you imagine, with Leicester left wondering whether they got the maximum out of their homegrown product if he were to up and leave.

This is all rather doom and gloom, though, as Martin has proven himself to be a manager in the past who is willing to experiment with youth talent and chuck them into the first team picture, even if Richards has decided to spread his wings and leave the sleeping giants behind, meaning no more exits should be on the cards.

They hopefully won't follow Richards out the door

When he was in charge of Southampton, the 40-year-old wasn't afraid to ruffle a few feathers here and there to accommodate youngsters into his first-team picture.

Indeed, he would chuck the likes of Tyler Dibling into his first-team set-up, even when the Saints were in the Premier League, with this development of Dibling making the likes of Otchere and Braybrooke surely eager to stay put.

Yet, even with Martin being well-known as a manager who is patient with youth talent, the food chain of Premier League clubs usually getting what they want could results in some up-and-coming starlets being poached, anyway.

Louis Page is clearly a very talented youngster, and if he isn't being handed the first team chances he desires next season, it wouldn't be an almighty shock to see a top-flight suitor win his services for big amounts of cash, like Monga's high-profile switch to the Etihad.

Martin will want his first team ranks next campaign to be a harmonious medley of experience and youth, hence the forthcoming signings of Alex McCarthy and Danny Ings, with a hope that the likes of Page stay put for the rollercoaster journey ahead, instead of looking for the exit door.
