These overpaid Leicester stars must prove worth after getting boss sacked

Naming the most notable underperformers and overpaid Leicester City stars is a tall order. There are just so many undesirable, so-called professional footballers on Filbert Way right now. Therefore this may well take a while. Nevertheless, interim Foxes head coach Andy King requires improved productivity if the LCFC squad can give themselves any collective chance of salvaging this stuttering season at all.

It is arguable that these particular prominent, and some not so high profile players, must prove their worth. They technically got former boss Marti Cifuentes dismissed due to their awful consistency or disappearing from even the more winnable games. So strap in, City fans - this is going be a bumpy yet necessary ride as another seismic shift occurs at King Power Stadium of late.

"Cifuentes inherited one of the worst jobs in the sport right now. Nevertheless, the Catalonian arguably earned the boot for many of his own mistakes and shortcomings regardless (motivation, organisation for two examples). Few managers could get a tune out of this LCFC XI."

A good starting point

A decent place to begin this examination and exposé is Leicester Mercury's Player Ratings from Saturday afternoon. If you have confined that instance to the deepest part of your memory, City lost at home to a smaller team in Oxford United.

Goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk, first of all. His sharpness, confidence and quality is dropping every week. He received a '3' for his uneven (to be kind) display versus the U's. Even during his most lauded outing this term, vs West Bromwich Albion, Stolarczyk actually made multiple mistakes and invited much of the drama.

The Foxes stopper spilled crosses, failed to claim them - and stayed on his line. He made poor punches and peculiarly pushed the ball into dangerous areas with defenders having to bail him out. One certainly exceptional save then handed him a Man of the Match award, questionably.

Caleb Okoli and Jannik Vestergaard were both handed 4s against the Yellows. Hamza Choudhury and Louis Page got 3 and 4 respectively. Meanwhile Bobby De Cordova-Reid and Jordan Ayew typically got a 3 each.

These are the overpaid and unsatisfactory Leicester City stars who must prove worth after playing so poorly that ex-head coach Marti Cifuentes was relieved of LCFC duties

Aside from the most recent Leicester losers from the aforementioned fixture, many other athletes have been subpar so far. The prime suspect here: left back Luke Thomas. Stealing a living comes to mind. The English Football League Two or the National Leagues appear more suitable.

The talented yet disappointing Stephy Mavididi did Cifuentes no favours during this campaign. Harry Winks' insistence on not being available for his manager's requirement is an indictment of the ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder's commitment this year.
