The King Power side have been awfully hesitant in the summer transfer window. With several players having departed the club and a few more expected to leave before the shutters fall, the Foxes have only made one senior team signing and look set to do very little in the market.
Nevertheless, this does not mean there is no interest in signing players. We all agree that Leicester could do with a new striker - and will likely need one if Patson Daka also leaves - a new defender, and a new winger. Their midfield remains pretty good, but they do need to offload Bobby De-Cordova Reid at some point.
Leicester City linked to Tunisian starlet
Marti Cifuentes’ side have been linked to Sebastian Tounekti: a Tunisian left-winger playing for Hammarby in the Swedish Allsvenskan. The news does not mean the Foxes are going to commence their summer spending with an actual fee-based transfer deal. It is more likely that this will not happen and any newcomers will be free transfers instead.
However, the player could offer the King Power Club something useful. He is pacy and passes well, while his carries can be a little wasteful, the Tunisian is at his best with a solid team moving in support. In essence, he is a creative passer who excels in constructing chances on goal for others. In the 20 matches he played, Tounekti has scored only once but assisted five times.
Although not prolific, Leicester City could do worse than the player. With plenty of development still to go, and a decent team set up at Seagrave to give more teeth to the attacks created by the left-winger, the Foxes could look to take a gamble. Plus, we do mostly all agree that Reid needs to go during the next two transfer windows, so having someone ready to come in would be smart.
Leicester City are not alone in their interest. Blackburn Rovers - a fellow Championship side - are said to be head-hunting at the moment, with Tounekti a player of interest. Tounekti himself has responded to the links:
"It’s always nice to see interest, it shows you’re on the right track… I’m really happy to be at Hammarby. I’m enjoying it immensely and feel that I still have a lot to develop… I’m staying out of those things until it gets very, very hot"Sebastian Tounekti
It does not seem that sufficient interest was generated for either of the Championship clubs to create a stir at Hammarby. It also seems the Tunisian is not too interested in a move away from the Swedish side yet: his focus remains on development. If the Foxes did show significant interest, I feel Seagrave would offer a better development environment under Cifuentes than it did in the past.
