The King Power's collapse into League One has fuelled transfer speculation. With the departures of Harry Winks, Victor Kristiansen, Jeremy Monga, and a few key players' contracts having expired, the Foxes need fresh talent swiftly.

With no senior strikers remaining and senior wingers like Abdul Fatawu looking likely to exit, a forward is not the priority recruit. Leicester could realistically do with at least two arrivals, although we already have Conor Chaplin and Danny Ings on the radar.

Add Tobias Lauritsen to that list. The 28-year-old Norwegian striker, playing for Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie, fits the profile Leicester needs - but how well does he fit, and how realistic is the move?

The Towering Norwegian

Standing at 6 ft 5 in tall, the towering Lauritsen's frame and core strength define his entire game. He can effectively receive long balls with his back to goal (often from a goal kick or defender), hold onto possession, and provide time for teammates to join the attack. This style does require a collaborative team to do well.

Suppose you remember Kelechi Iheanacho's combinations with Jamie Vardy; the Norwegian forward offers a similar role to that of the target man. Receiving possession from midfield or defence, holds onto it before releasing the poacher with a well-timed pass. Additionally, he offers an immense aerial threat from floated early crosses and set pieces. This is the kind of weapon we need.

Tobias Lauritsen ranks in the 98th percentile for aerials won by strikers, making him an invaluable asset for Leicester, having missed that since Iheanacho and the goals from Vardy. Having scored 12 goals and added five assists in 2025-26, and while he may not be prolific, he offers the consistency the Foxes need: that being a feature we lost with the inconsistent Ayew and Daka.

Lauritsen has played 30+ games in almost every season for Sparta Rotterdam, averaging just under 2,800 minutes per season. This is far greater than for Daka and Ayew. He also has the physical and stylistic qualities to be a useful addition for a demanding and exhausting League One campaign for Leicester City.

There do remain caveats. In a pressing system, the Norwegian centre-forward is too slow to trigger a press on centre-backs to shepherd the progression, and against a well-drilled low block he could become isolated. In the absence of set pieces and regular service, the player can be played out of a game and offer little for a team in high possession of the ball.

Despite those concerns, the move would still be a positive one for Leicester City and improve Russell Martin's side's chances of an immediate return to the second tier. That said, the rest of the team would need to supply him effectively, and a move from the Dutch league to League One is hardly a glamorous transfer. Whether the player would be excited by a season in League One is yet to be seen.
