This Leicester hero does not envisage success under Russell Martin

This outlet can only recall one bad decision made by Russell Martin since he arrived at Leicester City, amidst many solid calls. The former Scotland National Team representative has already secured victory in two friendly matches against Northampton Town and Bristol Rovers respectively.

Not to mention that Martin selected four balanced lineups within those games; City fielded two unique XIs in each uncompetitive match. In addition to those factors, the gaffer ensured to man-manage the squad perfectly, by all accounts. The ex-Rangers, Southampton, Swansea City and MK Dons boss also seems to value the brilliant group of LCFC youths, many of whom look ready for first-team action, especially in League One.

Ironically, England's division three is arguably the ideal environment to test the mettle and competence of young, future Premier League hopefuls. Furthermore, Martin has relentlessly worked the Foxes personnel in grueling double sessions at LCFC's Seagrave Training Ground as well.

Indeed, the mentality the 40-year-old wishes to instill aligns precisely with what Leicester's Blue Army fan base desires for the club overall. As previously highlighted, a single issue remains.

The only genuine problem or shock during Martin's brief LE2 tenure would be making under-pressure centre-back Wout Faes captain for the Pirates clash on Tuesday evening. Faes supposedly gave a decent account of himself in Bristol, yet he has been involved in multiple relegations at King Power Stadium.

Emile Heskey on Leicester City

The Belgian remains part of the old guard that the club hierarchy should replace; removing his significant wages would be the strategically correct choice here. Meanwhile, City legend Emile Heskey is not convinced with Martin, nor the current state of LCFC either.

"Knowing the situation, I'm not sure if they'll go straight back up, if I'm honest with you.

If they do, well done, but I'm not holding my breath for an immediate return."
Heskey

As detailed in a report by Yahoo Sports, the former Foxes striker is not holding his breath regarding the manager's long-term success at the helm. Heskey implies that despite the recent flurry of activity and positive practice feedback, fundamental issues at the club remain.

The one-time Three Lions international's skepticism reflects a broader unease among some supporters who remember the pain of previous campaigns. Whether Martin can finally be promoted from tier-three after multiple attempts in his career remains to be seen.

It is clear that while the manager has made an assertive start in terms of discipline and prospect integration, he requires many suitable signings. For LCFC, the upcoming competitive fixtures will serve as the true litmus test for whether Martin and the ownership's vision can align on the pitch.
