Here on this website we are always on the lookout for the next generation of Leicester City starlets. Assessing which up-and-coming Foxes are likely to break into the LCFC team is the name of the game. The City ownership have also been able to oversee the development and, often, very lucrative sales of many of these outstanding young professionals.
Evidently the Blue Army fan base may now have another new name to learn. The latest City prospect to turn heads, especially the manager's, has been named. Could the youthful yet experience player in question be the next breakout Leicester star? Considering the talent he has, not to mention having the boss Marti Cifuentes' backing, he might just be!
Who are we talking about? What has the former Queens Park Rangers head coach said of the evident talent here? And what is our verdict of the promise available to the Filbert Way side?
Manager unhappy with second half performance
Cifuentes wasn't best pleased after the final whistle in City's clash with Portsmouth at KPS. Neither were the faithful. The Catalan spoke to the media as the result set in:
"The second half was not at the level we want it but I’m very self-critical and the second half should have been much better... The space was in-behind the backline so we needed to exploit where the space is but we needed different solutions."The Football League Paper
Considering LCFC are struggling to finish opportunities in front of goal, a change in the front line may be in the offing. Could Silko Thomas be the chosen one?
Silko Thomas may be next breakout Leicester City star after receiving boss Marti Cifuentes' backing
According to Leicester Mercury, Cifuentes declined the opportunity to sign another attacker in the summer. Once Kasey McAteer was sold to Ipswich Town, it is claimed the Foxes could have approached other targets to secure.
However the gaffer saw something, or someone, he admired in the extended team. That man is Thomas, Silko Thomas.
"I knew Silko from last season on loan at Wigan and I was really impressed about the way he managed... That’s why he’s getting those minutes. Hopefully there will be many more. He’s pushing and trying to show he deserves to be here.Marti Cifuentes, via LCFC Live
“When Kasey left, it was an opportunity to look at the market and try to find a replacement in the market... The first step is to look in house, and the reality was that I was very happy with Silko, so I preferred not to sign anyone else."
Although, the recently 21-year-old could have a tough time. If he played in any other position, it'd be easier. Supplanting Abdul Fatawu or Jeremy Monga is unlikely.
