Ruud van Nistelrooy was not pleased with some rather subtle yet obviously unprofessional behaviour at Leicester City Football Club. And I believe the Dutchman was right in this instance. In banishing two senior and well-known Foxes from recent matchday squads, van Nistelrooy was bold and seemingly in the right. Although, he's seldom been correct during his tenure on Filbert Way.
Nonetheless, the reproval the ex-Manchester United man receives should also extend to an aspect of this matter. You see, RvN exhiled Harry Winks from the starting lineup and the substitute's bench once again when they played Liverpool. Yet, when asked of his midfielder's whereabouts, LCFC's head coach didn't even know where the former Tottenham Hotspur man was!
Winks was supposed to be at King Power Stadium and was potentially A.W.O.L. (absent without leave) when he was meant to be in attendance to support his teammates. Or, he was at KPS and RvN isn't doing his job appropriately. Either way, the shambolic season predictably continues in embarrassing style.
"City manager Ruud van Nistelrooy said he did not know if Winks was present at the ground or not, and would “have to check”."Leicestershire Live
Meanwhile no clarification has been offered by van Nistelrooy for the similar and apparent exclusion of centre back Jannik Vestergaard. The Denmark international was a fixture at LCFC for a time under the one-time PSV manager. But, as I say, a situation not dissimilar to Winks' appeared to end Vestergaard's involvement. The two are said to be unwilling to stay over for important away matches. And they inexplicably travel 200 miles to training and back.
Gary Neville befittingly criticises Leicester City star Harry Winks
Van Nistelrooy's latest baffling comment comes amid criticism from Sky Sports pundit and fellow United alum Neville. The retired professional says Winks' decision not to move his family to Leicestershire and to remain in London is unprofessional.
"I’ve got a massive problem with that. If you don’t commit to a football club that are paying you good money by moving your family up or moving yourself up… If they’re paying that level of money, the least you can do is be professional."Gary Neville
I must say, Foxes of Leicester agree. Neville also believes the unnecessary car journeys can cause injury.
