There's not much to look forward to on Filbert Way for Leicester City supporters at the minute. Though if LCFC do indeed go down to the Championship, they could enjoy an entertaining and almost imperious run back to the Premier League again of course. However, without meticulous Italian boss Enzo Maresca at the helm, the Foxes may not be as organised as when previously in England's second division.

Meanwhile current manager at King Power Stadium, Ruud van Nistelrooy, has promised to remain at the helm even in the face of relegation. Although the Dutchman had a great playing career to cherish, he cannot get a tune out of the contemporary LCFC squad. Yet he is certainly rated elsewhere: van Nistelrooy aided the development of some currently thrilling football stars whilst at PSV Eindhoven. And RvN has committed to doing so with the east Midlanders as well.

In fact, van Nistelrooy has reportedly promoted nine Leicester prospects to senior training over the last week. The prospect of relegation and the international break ironically offers an amazing chance to the following group.

It is said that Jake Evans, Sammy Braybrooke, Liam McAlinney, Jeremy Monga, Bade Aluko, Joe Wormleighton, Harvey Godsmark-Ford, Mirsad Ali and Tommy Neale were all spotted at City practice over the last fortnight. The starlets potentially have the opportunity of a lifetime right now!

Incredibly, RvN revealed that Evans and Monga will be in 'first team contention' at KPS during preseason. The Blue Army are likely to have a host of fresh talent to appraise over the summer. And some fan favourites could well emerge, especially if LCFC can retain Monga.

A season of pain and hardship is almost out of the way now. So does the Foxes faithful finally have something to be optimistic about with a highly regarded crop of talent emerging?

"...should City suffer relegation with games still remaining in the season, then it’s possible he will start to take a look at some of those youngsters and see how they fare in a first-team environment.

If van Nistelrooy is to be true to his word, he will be sticking around for next season should City fall into the Championship.

In that case, he’s going to want to thoroughly assess his squad and bring players into the fold who he feels can make a difference next season, or at least those he feels he can develop."
