West Brom set to have this many points deducted before end of season

Sky Sports' Midlands maestro Rob Dorsett is a competent correspondent and one Leicester City supporters certainly listen to. That being said, the reporter has updated football fans on West Bromwich Albion's actual Profit and Sustainability situation.

Evidently, it isn't looking good for the rejuvenated Baggies under James Morrison. They are likely to receive a points deduction penalty this season for marginal, but not flagrant, breaches.

It is "very unlikely" that the punishment transpires after all 2025/26 EFL Championship games have been played. Meaning LCFC's rivals for relegation are in big trouble - just as City are!

"It could be three points rather than the six Leicester were given because there are likely to be no aggravating factors or sizeable breaches, but it is not clear and we have no idea yet of when this independent commission will meet to decide West Brom's fate."

Dorsett predicts a two or three-point subtraction; obviously many in the Foxes fanbase would prefer six to be deducted, as was their own sentence. Nevertheless, this amount taken away would place West Brom into the drop zone.

Reality for Leicester City rivals

The administrative shadow looming over The Hawthorns casts a chilling pallor across a campaign that had, until now, been defined by Morrison's influence and tactical ingenuity creating a spirited resurgence. While the infractions are described as minimal, the uncompromising architecture of modern financial regulations ensures that even the slightest financial overstep invites a punitive response.

For the Black Country faithful, the timing is particularly cruel, as the spectre of an end-of-season deduction threatens to dismantle fragile momentum built on the pitch. This looming verdict creates a harrowing parity with the plight of the Foxes: transforming the battle for survival into a high-stakes calculation of legal endurance as much as athletic prowess.

Should Dorsett's prophecy of a three-point cull manifest, WBA will find themselves submerged in the bottom three, facing a desperate scramble to escape supposed mediocrity. Money shouldn't rule football, or sport in general. In reality, it does far more than that: finance dictates every angle and avenue in all aspects!
