What Leicester City manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy has to change following crushing loss

Leicester City fell to a crushing defeat against Brentford as the East Midlands club struggled to make an impact. New head coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy has their work cut out for them: here is what he must change ahead of the West Ham United fixture.

What 'RVN' has got to change

To put it simply, Ruud Van Nistelrooy has to work on constructing an East Midlands side which is capable of several key facets. Firstly, I want to see much greater possession retention, as well as progression retention. This requires more patient passing and positional flexibility on-pitch to offer up options.

Additionally, this will require Nistelrooy to immediately rid Leicester City of our recent obsession with long balls. They do not work if you lack strong and pacy players getting onto balls to either explode past defenders or hold up the ball. It merely means the other team has a chance at winning possession, and then turning progression back on the Foxes. We cannot afford more of that against West Ham.

Secondly, the team needs a bit more fight and passion. For me, this means making different team selections to energise the squad, punish poor performers, and help the King Power Club regain the ball more often after losing it. I would suggest Kasey McAteer, Hamza Choudhury, and Bilal El Khannouss as all three like to go in for a challenge.
