What Leicester City manager Ruud Van Nistelrooy has to change following crushing loss

Leicester City fell to a crushing defeat against Brentford as the East Midlands club struggled to make an impact. New head coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy has their work cut out for them: here is what he must change ahead of the West Ham United fixture.

That disaster class of a backline has to be broken up. Wout Faes and James Justin should possibly be dropped. To do this, I would suggest the only set-up would be to keep with a 3-4-1-2 similar to what was on-pitch against Brentford. Unless there are injuries which get in the way, Conor Coady, Caleb Okoli, and Jannik Vestergaard can be the centre-backs, with Victor Kristiansen and Kasey McAteer playing as the wing-backs.

The Foxes have to create more chances. This requires technical passing and taking risks. That is where players like Harry Winks, Boubakary Soumare, Khannouss, and Facundo Buonanotte are critical. Leicester City will then need to pass more, wait for the right moment, and use a little bit of skill to create those opportunities they have failed to create due to a lack of imagination and creative freedom on the pitch.

Before the next fixture, the Dutchman will need to develop a system which provides liberty for our most talented and passionate players to make their mark. Meanwhile, offering the patient possessive stability to prevent an excessive concession of possession. This will require tough choices in team selection and a new training regime. Good luck to our new manager.
