We attempt to explain the latest Leicester City transfer rumour. Why on earth do Foxes bosses want to sign a 38-year-old Premier League title-winner? All will become clear in due course.
Caught lacking at the back - again
The summer has only just begun, but there are already a number of areas in the Leicester City squad which require strengthening or even filling. One of those positions is goalkeeper. The Foxes released two senior 'keepers early this month: Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen. In fact, another is wanted by remaining Premier League sides: LCFC No.1 Mads Hermansen.
In addition to that and to be honest, City's then hypothetically only remaining stopper, Jakub Stolarczyk, has received a bid from a Championship rival as well. If every deal was completed, City would only technically and shockingly have one first team goalie left in Stevie Bausor. And he's only 20 years old; he is yet to make his debut for the seniors, if you weren't aware.
All this probably helps explain a possibly curious seeming rumour to some people in the King Power fan base. Why do the East Midlanders supposedly want to sign a 38-year-old English title-winner? Is he worth having on the roster? And is a transfer to Filbert Way likely?
Leicester City need backup and are therefore looking at acquiring veteran ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic
Begovic has been around; he's also experienced the differing qualities and heights of a number of EPL outfits. He would, seemingly, be a very suitable understudy to either Hermansen or Stolarczyk at City.
The Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina-born man is unlikely to challenge for a role as a starter. As previously outlined, Bausor is unlikely to be considered for the starting lineup yet either.

The aforementioned pair are plausibly being lined up as the No.2 and No.3 stoppers for Championship match days. Hermansen is a probable leaver, leaving Stolarczyk as the first-choice.
