The Leicester City squad and staff have travelled to Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium for their final match of the 2024/25 season. Ruud van Nistelrooy's LCFC side did somewhat improve for the campaign's run-in, yet overall this has been a punishing and gruelling year for the City fan base, players and bosses, I'm sure. Nevertheless, here we shall continue to support, follow and analyse the Foxes.
That being said, we have some insight into the latest contentious issue concerning the King Power club. Some Leicester fans, and even journalists who we should be able to look to for information, are perplexed by City's starting XI omissions. However, do the two LCFC stars' respective absences actually have an obvious implication? So let's take a look at the Leicester East Midlands lineup. Not to mention discussing the importance of the missing pair and what it probably means for LCFC going forward.
Ruud van Nistelrooy announces what is likely his last Leicester City team
Many reporters expect Van Nistelrooy to be relieved of duty, possibly mutually, upon the season's completion. City have been relegated, sadly, and RvN's poor management in quite a few areas contributed. The lack of quality and drive at Leicester is the most prominent factor in decline in my view, though.
Therefore we may not see a lot of these players anymore. For that matter, this might well be van Nistelrooy's last contest in charge as well. And, to be perfectly frank, I won't be disappointed to see the Dutchman gone and a new era ushered in. RvN's only real plus point was giving some true talent their debuts.
Where are Wilfred Ndidi and Bilal El Khannouss?
Unfortunately, El Khannouss' absence could mean he is on his way out. The Moroccan is said to be wanted for transfers.
Meanwhile this fixture was thought to potentially be Ndidi's goodbye game. Does his leave mean he's leaving too?
Either way, van Nistelrooy's selection is below. The club give their reasons. But, clearly, fans are unconvinced!
