Leicester City getting closer to deal for Polish International Bastosz Kapustka as Riyad Mahrez future remains uncertain

Leicester City continue their busy summer transfer window having signed two of their own home grown players to new four and five year contracts in the last 24 hours, but the real spot light remains on the situation surrounding the potential exit of Riyad Mahrez.

With the Algerian International rumored to be making a big money move to Arsenal, the Foxes are reportedly on the trail of 19-Year-Old Polish International Bastosz Kapustka following his strong summer showing in this summer’s UEFA European Championship and are favored for his signature over Everton, Southampton and Ajax.

Kapustka has spent the entire of his professional career with Polish Ekstraklasa side KSC Cracovia where he has made 58 appearances scoring 6 goals for the Krakow based club.

However, while his league form was what got him into contention for a Euro berth, his real announcement to the world of his talents was during his national team’s match against Northern Ireland which inspired an article from Goal.com that told of his night club brawl and back story ahead of the summer tournament that nearly kept him from going altogether.

Having shown his ability this summer at the highest stage that European national teams currently have available, the real question will be if the youngster can offer enough competition to Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton to earn himself a future with the Foxes should he make the move.

If he is brought in behind Mahrez and Albrighton he should have the time to learn his trade in the Premier League, but should he have to step into a full time first team place he could struggle with the physicality of the league.

For the believed price on offer in the range of £7-£8 million, he is a bargain buy for such a young talent with the prices that clubs are demanding from English sides in the current market and he would be a great addition to the squad Claudio Ranieri is working to assemble to have enough players to compete on all competitive fronts.
