‘Leicester City can win the CL’ – Danny Drinkwater

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater believes that the foxes can emulate East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest and win the Champions League.
Leicester City won their first and only Premier League title last season after beating the 5000-1 odds that were against them.

The silverware came as a shock to many and had many supporters comparing the foxes to their local rivals Nottingham Forest who won their only top flight title in the 1978-79 season under the legendary Brian Clough.
Forest then went on to win two consecutive European titles with Clough in the following seasons under the former European Cup format.
Leicester City head out to Belgium tomorrow to face Brugge in their first ever Champions League game and midfield leader Danny Drinkwater believes that his side can emulate their rival’s achievement from the 80s.
Speaking to the media, Drinkwater said:

"“I am not going to say we can’t match Forest. I’d be daft if I said we can’t win it. I think everybody would have thought we couldn’t win the Premier League and we did it,”"
"“If we are playing to prove people wrong then perfect. Playing in the Champions League the club has come a very long way. We are definitely not going in to make up the numbers.”"
Leicester City fans will be pleased to hear that the squad will not take the occasion for granted and will not simply be there to soak in the atmosphere.
The foxes will be traveling around Europe with one goal. To win.
One issue however is their domestic form.
Leicester City are currently sitting in 16th place with a mere 4 points from 4 games.
Their play at the moment leaves a lot to be desired with defensive errors becoming more and more prominent as well as a lack of creativity going forward.
Luckily for fans however, the club are prepared for what their European group-mates are ready to throw at them.
Speaking on the matter, Drinkwater said:
"“It is the club’s first time in the Champions League, we don’t want it to be the first and the last. We are going to look to show them what we are made of,”"

Leicester City travel to Brugge tomorrow and will be travelling to Copenhagen on the 2nd of November before their trip to Portugal to face Porto in their final game of the Champions League group stage on the 7th of December.
