Leicester City have announced the signing of Vicente Iborra from Sevilla for an undisclosed fee.

As per the reports, City are believed to have paid a fee in the region of £12 million, though there is no official confirmation from the club as yet.

Talking to the official website, the Spaniard said:

"“I’m very happy to be here with Leicester City and I’m looking forward to experiencing the Premier League with my new team-mates next season. Everything about this Club seems good and it’s been great to meet my new team-mates. I’ve already spoken with them about the city and the Club so I can’t wait to get started.”"

The former Sevilla captain becomes Leicester City’s second signing of the summer, following the £25 million arrival of Hull City defender Harry Maguire. Manager Craig Shakespeare seemed particularly amused with his capture. He told:

"“I’m absolutely delighted that Vicente has joined us. He’s player with such a good pedigree from his time in Spain with Sevilla and he adds some really strong competition to our squad.”"

During his four seasons with Sevilla, Vicente Iborra won three Europa League titles in succession, one of them coming as captain as the La Liga side came from behind to beat Liverpool by a comfortable 3-1 margin. Not only would he offer a solution to Shakespeare’s defensive headaches, he will also bring an additional threat to the attack – having scored eight goals (four assists) across all competitions last season – and a unique brand of leadership.

Iborra’s coup should probably be the Foxes’ last defensive act, with sights now firmly set on bolstering their options up front. Both Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez edging ever closer to an exit, the former Premier League champions would have to look for equally as good replacements. Kelechi Iheanacho, George Thomas, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Troy Deeney and Gaston Ramirez have all been linked with a move to the King Power Stadium, though it remains uncertain as to who are Leicester actually after.

The possibility of a deal for either of those names any time sooner seems very unlikely at the moment; however, given how Leicester City managed to secure Vicente Iborra in next to no time, you never know.
