Eldin Jakupovic is set to move to Leicester City after the club agreed a fee with Hull City, according to Sky Sources.

It is understood that the 32-year old left Hull City’s training camp in Portugal to jet back to England for the completion of his transfer to Leicester, with the fee expected to be around £2 million. The Bosnian will then join the Foxes in Hong Kong for their pre-season fixture against West Bromwich Albion.

Jakupovic will become the second Hull player to join Leicester City after they snapped up Harry Maguire for £17 million earlier in the summer. The Switzerland international had a terrific season in an otherwise shambolic campaign for his team as they were relegated for the second time in three years.

Eldin Jakupovic’s signing would be another smart buy from Craig Shakespeare, as has been the case with all of his dealings so far.

City needed someone to compete with Kasper Schmeichel for a place in the starting XI after Ron-Robert Zieler’s departure, and Shakespeare has done exactly that.

Jakupovic isn’t just a decent replacement – he is much more than that. Here we have someone who Schmeichel would actually have to fight to be able to nail down his place in the first choice XI, a fact that’s well reflected in the five clean sheets that he managed to keep last season, two of them coming against Manchester United and Liverpool.
