Leicester City’s Vice-Chairman gives update on Kelechi Iheanacho
Leicester City’s Vice-Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddha-Naprabha has all but confirmed that the club is going to sign Kelechi Iheanacho as soon as possible.
The Foxes have already agreed a £25 million deal for the Nigerian striker from Manchester City; however, issues concerning his image rights have stood in City’s way since.
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola also confirmed that the 20-year old was set to move at a recent press conference, but he didn’t reveal his destination. The same was the case with Leicester City Manager Craig Shakespeare, who refused to comment at all.
Much to the Foxes faithful’s delight, though, the club’s Vice-Chairman spoke out about the transfer. He told:
"“Yes, we have interest in him”.“But we have to wait for Manchester City’s stance on this, as they are still in their pre-season as well. If it happens, it will be soon.“Leicester City’s transfer market is not over yet. We just signed three players and there will be at least one more."
Srivaddha-Naprabha also spoke about the club’s ambitions for the 2017/18 season and sounded rather optimistic. He said:
"“We aim for a top-10 position this season. If we start well in the first half of the season, then we will also expand our focus to cup competitions.”"
Well, if Leicester City are to play for a place in the top-half, or as per Shakespeare, for the top-four place, they’ll have to buy accordingly.
There have been the arrivals of Harry Maguire, Vicente Iborra and Eldin Jakupovic, but there are more areas that need to be addressed, and the Foxes have to see to that.
