Tottenham Hotspur make enquiry for Riyad Mahrez
Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about the possibility of signing Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City, as per an exclusive report by The Express.
The Premier League runners-up are the only side in the top division to have not signed a single player, something that has had the fans worried, especially because of the record departure of Kyle Walker and the potential transfer of Eric Dier to Manchester United.
It is now being reported that Spurs are stepping up their interest in Riyad Mahrez, even if they have to slightly overpay Leicester City to let that happen.
What complicates the deal is the Algerian’s preference for Spurs’ arch-rivals Arsenal, who are still waiting to see if they can land Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco, having already had three bids rejected by the French Champions.

Shall Arsenal fail to sign Lemar, they may come back for Riyad Mahrez, and that has the 26-year old confused – whether to drop off his Gunners interest or to wait for them; the latter is a risky option, mind you.
Surprisingly, however, neither Arsenal nor Tottenham Hotspur have made a formal approach so far, with AS Roma the only side to have done that and failed.
The Italian giants had two bids worth £20 and £27 million rejected by Leicester City, and now they have finally ended their interest in Mahrez, unless, of course, the Foxes are willing to lower their demand.
Riyad Mahrez continues to be an integral part of Craig Shakespeare’s Leicester City, as the boss has stated on a number of occasions. He has netted two of City’s three goals in the pre-season fixtures so far.
