In a shocking turn of events, Chelsea are now interested in signing Jamie Vardy from Leicester City, as per the Daily Mirror.

Vardy began his 2017/18 Premier League season with a proper bang, scoring a terrific brace against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium as the 30-year old nearly earned Leicester City an unlikely away win.

The 30-year old looked pretty sharp in the following game against Brighton and Hove Albion too, and that has convinced the his nibs at Chelsea that he’s the perfect man to replace wantaway Diego Costa.

The Spaniard has for long had a feud with manager Antonio Conte, and that has only got worse with none of them leaving a chance to expose each other’s wrongdoings.

Diego Costa now effectively the subject of history, Chelsea want a striker that can fit their counter-attacking style of play, and Jamie Vardy has emerged as the top man on their list.

The Blues already have new arrival Alvaro Morata and young Michy Batshuayi up their sleeves; however with the latter surrounded by uncertainty himself, Conte wants a top-class striking option.

As you’d expect, Leicester City won’t really entertain any offers for the England international – not this late into the transfer window anyway – but if Chelsea come calling with a big money offer, you never know how quickly can things change.

The English Champions have also registered a formal interest in Danny Drinkwater to bolster their midfield, though Leicester City put them off early on. Craig Shakespeare might well be a busy man in the upcoming days.
