Report: Riyad Mahrez tried to clinch a move to Manchester United
Riyad Mahrez reportedly tried to clinch a move to Manchester United on the Deadline Day, as per an exclusive report by the Daily Star.
The Leicester City wantaway had been the subject of speculation galore ever since he released a statement about his desire to move on from the King Power Stadium.
At that time, even the idea of seeing Mahrez stay in the East Midlands seemed funny, but as it turns out, the 26-year old will have to be a Fox till January at least, which is when he’ll get another shot at trying to get a new club for himself.

The 2015/16 PFA player of the year had attracted interest from Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, AS Roma and the FC Barcelona; however, Roma were the only side to make a formal approach for him, but saw all four of their bids rejected by Leicester City.
Now it has been revealed that Riyad Mahrez himself made one desperate attempt to find a way out, as the Algerian’s representatives held talks with Manchester United, who hadn’t been linked with any move for Mahrez at all.
The Leicester City star was aware of Jose Mourinho’s desire to add a winger to his squad after the failed pursuit of Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, and even jetted off to finalise a move to Old Trafford from his national team’s training camp, but sadly failed in his final attempt as well, as the £50 million price-tag proved too much.
It seems very unlikely that any side would be willing to pay Leicester’s asking price in the January transfer window, since such big money signings are generally made later in the year. Therefore, it’s in Riyad Mahrez’s best interests to try and earn a transfer to a bigger club by performing at the highest level rather than issuing a come and get me plea.
