Ahmed Musa turned down Deadline Day move to Hull City
Ahmed Musa turned down a Deadline Day move to Hull City, manager Leonid Slutsky has confirmed.
The 24-year old was all but set to depart for the KC Stadium on a loan deal; however, he decided to stay at Leicester City and prove his worth.
The Tigers’ boss was very keen on signing Ahmed Musa, having previously worked with him back in his CSKA Moscow days, making the latter’s decision seem even strange.
Speaking to the Hull Daily Mail, Slutsky said:
"“We came very close to Musa, but not each decision depends on me or the club.“I think maybe he wants to prove himself at Leicester and he needs one more attempt. He thought a lot and finally his decision was to stay at Leicester.“The final decision was at midday on deadline day and we didn’t have a chance to change Musa for another option.”"
The Nigerian was signed in the summer of 2016 for £16 million from CSKA Moscow, but it was soon clear that he wasn’t quite ready for life in England. First under Claudio Ranieri and then under Craig Shakespeare, he simply failed to repeat his goalscoring exploits in Russia.
Ahmed Musa netted a mere four goals in 32 appearances across all competitions in his first season with Leicester City and has only added a goal more to that tally, as he somehow managed to score against Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup a couple weeks back.

Comfortably out of favour at Leicester at the moment, Musa may end up regretting not choosing in favour of a move, since a transfer to a Championship club and that too with a manager you’ve had your best days with, can end up making you a better player.
In the East Midlands, the chances for the Nigeria international will be limited without a doubt, and it’s wild to think that he’d be able to make much out of his playing time.
