Leicester City’s struggles have come as a surprise to many after all of the summer spending.

The Foxes spent a good part of the transfer window being linked to some really good players, buying few of them and dispatching the “extras” at the same time. Yet, one might feel that there’s still some room for fresh talent, with another lot of players now beginning to seem like a liability.

Leicester’s barren run may have ended, but the problems haven’t – neither has the poor run of those who the Foxes faithful are getting increasingly frustrated with; but who are they? Foxes of Leicester has its say:

James Lassey’s picks

Harry Maguire

This may come as a surprise due to Harry Maguire recently earning himself a place in Gareth Southgate’s side to represent England in their upcoming friendlies, but the centre-back has had a rather lacklustre Leicester City induction.  The £8 million signing was bought in to shore up City defence, but they endured a nightmare spell at the back in recent games, shipping 18 goals in his 13 games, averaging over a goal a game.

While it would be unfair to put all the defensive errors on the 24-year-old’s head, he has not helped the situation. It was his combined mistake with Christian Fuchs to step up in the Stoke City game on Saturday that led to Xherdan Shaqiri’s equaliser. He also has a tendency to get sucked out of position, leaving his defensive compatriots vulnerable and will need to try and refrain his attacking nature, if Leicester City are to become a strong impregnable unit.

Ahmed Musa

Although he has not had the chance to prove his doubters wrong, Ahmed Musa appears to be one of the few Claudio Ranieri transfer mistakes. He is yet to feature for the Foxes in the Premier League this term, and his chances of a first team opportunity do not look like changing.

The Nigeria international may be on his way out in January, as he is heavily linked with a move to Championship outfit Hull City.

Christian Fuchs

Having  struggled in the past few months, Christian Fuchs’ first team opportunites may start to become sparse and far between with the recent rise of the young left-sided Ben Chilwell. The Austrian has not been in the best of form recently with bad performances against Everton and Stoke City.

The full-back is yet to make a compelling partnership with either centre-back Maguire or the always changing Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray, leading to the former Schalke 04 defender being caught out when the opposition break. It is tough as you can see the 31-year-old has the heart and desire but not the athleticism or pace he once had.
