Riyad Mahrez’s Facebook page caused an absolute meltdown among the Leicester City fans.

The Leicester star’s verified social media account claimed that he had decided to call it a day as a footballer and that he wished to spend the rest of his life away from football.

As the message spread like fire in fuel, there was a state of a chaos as barely anyone could believe a decision that seemed more shocking than saddening.

Here’s what the post read:

"“As my time as a football player comes to an end, I would like to say few words.“I want to thank everybody for the kindness and support they have shown me in this incredible city. You will be always in my heart.”"

However, much to the delight of the fans, Leicester City later confirmed that the page had been hacked, and they were working to have the post removed.

"“Yes that’s correct. It’s not a genuine post and we’re working with Facebook to have it removed,” a spokesman told."

How thrilling is it to be Riyad Mahrez these days? The 26-year old has had an eventful couple of months or so, and it doesn’t seem like the winds of calmness are going to strike the Mahrez Island any sooner.

The Leicester City winger’s turbulent period began when Manchester City thought it was wise to bid for him just a couple days before the Deadline Day. While the Foxes stuck to being stubborn, Mahrez thought of being fancy, as he went AWOL a day before his side’s trip to the Merseyside to face Everton.

Riyad Mahrez eventually returned in time to face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, though he could do little to prevent a 5-1 mauling. Fast forward a few days, and he has scored an unbelievably good free-kick from 30 yards at the 97th minute before having his Facebook page hacked. Not short of action, is he?
