Former Leicester City man Steve Walsh wants Jamie Vardy at Everton at next season, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Walsh was the Head of Recruitment when he brought Vardy to the King Power Stadium from Fleetwood Town for a little more than £1 million.

Few would have known back then that an unknown commodity from a non-league team would one day light the Premier League up, and go on to break record after record on his way to becoming a Premier League champion in 2015/16 under Claudio Ranieri.

The 31-year old was the subject of a £17 million bid from Arsenal the next season, though he rebuffed the Gunners’ approach and has continued to maintain that his heart lies in the East Midlands at Leicester City.

Steve Walsh, however, thinks he can convince the England international to come to Goodison Park this summer, as he looks to turn around the fortunes of this fast sinking club.

Although the Toffees have spent big under new owner Farhad Moshiri, they have miserably failed to make that count on the field. Placed ninth in the league table with 37 points, they are closer to 20th-placed West Bromwich Albion (20 points) than fourth-placed Liverpool (60 points) – and that sums it all up.

As they now eye a brighter future, massive changes and some major buys are expected next summer, and Jamie Vardy tops the priority list. The only problem? Vardy won’t want to leave Leicester City, and Steve Walsh himself might be replaced by PSV Eindhoven’s Marcel Brands as Everton’s Director of Football next season, who the Merseyside outfit are reportedly in talks with.
