Leicester City manager Claude Puel and the fiery duo of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have been nominated for the Premier League’s monthly awards.

Puel is in the shortlist for the Barclays Manager of the Month Award (Pep Guardiola, Sean Dyche and Jose Mourinho also named), while Mahrez and Vardy’s strikes could win either of them a Carling Goal of the Month Award.

Leicester City went unbeaten in March, drawing 1-1 against AFC Bournemouth before winning their next two games against West Bromwich Albion and Brighton and Hove Albion by 4-1 and 2-0 respectively.

It was in this run that both Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy managed to score a sumptuous goal each.

While Mahrez’s strike was a perfectly curled in free kick in the 97 minute against Bournemouth to save his side from a 1-0 defeat at home, Vardy’s goal was all about technical excellence, as he saw Mahrez’s ball drop over his shoulder before taking it onto his left foot to volley it into the corner against West Bromwich Albion.

It was the Leicester City striker’s 14th Premier League goal of the season, with the tally now standing at 15 after another late goal in the 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last week.
