Tottenham Hotspur to make move for Leicester City’s Demarai Gray
Tottenham Hotspur are plotting a summer move for Leicester City and England U-21s winger Demarai Gray, according to ESPN FC.
The North Londoners tried to sign the 21-year old last summer, too, but he decided against it as Craig Shakespeare convinced him to stay before Claude Puel got him to sign a new four-year deal at the King Power Stadium.
But that deal is of little importance to Tottenham Hotspur, who would look to add Gray to their ranks to bolster their attack for the next Premier League season, as they look to challenge for the title.
If indeed the reports are true, then Leicester City may find it hard to keep their young prodigy in the East Midlands for another season. The Spurs are an attractive destination for any young player who is looking to develop, and Demarai Gray is no exception, as he would want to play under Mauricio Pochettino, too.
Yes, Gray might not win trophies with them, but if he does get enough playing time, then there’s no doubt that he’d grow into a different, a better player than he currently is. The only (and the most important) question: Will he actually get enough minutes?
We’ve seen a lot of English players over the years who have suddenly come out of nowhere, earned moves to bigger clubs and disappeared just as quickly because of their treatment.
Next: Leicester City, Claude Puel and the patience game
This is an age-old tradition in England, and one that Demarai Gray won’t want to be associated with. He has got a lot of time, bags of potential and the right kind of people around him. Maybe he is at the right place already – for the moment.
